On May 6, 2026, the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing hosted the 3rd Pakistan Professionals & Students Forum (PSPF 2026) under the theme “STEM Connect: Innovation, Mentorship and Collaboration.” Associate Professor Majid Khan from the School of Resources and Safety Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB), was invited by the Embassy to participate as a mentor in the Earth Sciences mentorship cluster and to deliver a keynote sharing session during the high-level forum. The event brought together Pakistani students, researchers, scholars, and professionals from leading universities and institutions across China to strengthen collaboration, mentorship, and professional engagement in STEM-related fields.

Representing the School of Resources and Safety Engineering of USTB, Dr. Majid Khan engaged extensively with Pakistani students and young researchers on topics including scientific innovation, industry-oriented skills, technology transfer, and academic and career development opportunities in China. During the event, Ambassador Khalil Hashmi highly appreciated Professor Majid Khan’s volunteer contributions in mentoring Pakistani students in China and his continued efforts in promoting educational, scientific, and people-to-people exchanges. In his speech, Dr Majid Khan shared key insights from previous mentorship activities and encouraged young scholars to actively participate in international scientific collaboration and innovation-driven research.

Dr. Majid Khan highlighted the importance of academic mentorship and international cooperation platforms in fostering talent development, research collaboration, and knowledge exchange in science and engineering disciplines. He noted that USTB’s advanced research facilities and expertise in mining and safety engineering provide valuable opportunities for joint research, technology exchange, and capacity building. He also emphasized that such professional and educational exchange platforms play an important role in strengthening connections between universities, researchers, and students, while promoting innovation and global academic engagement.


Dr. Majid Khan Biography:
Dr. Majid Khan is an Associate Professor at the School of Resources and Safety Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB). His research focuses on applied geophysics, mining safety science and engineering, underground engineering failure prediction, and early warning technologies. He has published over 75 SCI-indexed journal papers, delivered more than 15 conference presentations, secured multiple research grants including NSFC, BJNSF, and MOST projects as Principal Investigator, and received several honors including the Excellent International Young Scientist Award in Mining Safety. He actively promotes international cooperation in science, technology, education, innovation, and people-to-people exchange.
